Experts will prepare recommendations for the restoration of protected areas affected by flooding.
A mission of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) has arrived in Ukraine. Their task is to assess the environmental consequences of the explosion of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, said Ruslan Strelets, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
“The UNEP mission is in Ukraine. Within a month, experts will work on assessing the environmental effects of the dam explosion at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. They will prepare recommendations for the restoration of the protected areas affected of flooding,” the minister said in a statement.
The minister noted the importance of determining practical measures that will be part of the plan for the restoration of territories significantly affected by the terrorist attack on the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
Recall that on the night of June 6, the invaders blew up the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. In the Kherson region, some settlements were completely or partially flooded.
It was earlier reported that the IAEA mission will visit the areas affected by the terrorist attack on the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.
