This is reported by the publication “Public”.
The court made the following decisions:
- the former head of the Kherson regional council, Vladislav Manger, was found guilty of ordering the attack, and his assistant Alexei Levin was found guilty of organizing the attack. They were sentenced to 10 years in prison;
- convicts are credited with the term of punishment for the period of detention in a pre-trial detention center – one day of pre-trial detention corresponds to one day of imprisonment;
- the measure of restraint for Mangeru in the form of detention in the pre-trial detention center of the Ministry of Justice was left unchanged. Prior to the entry into force of the sentence Levin will be in jail;
- Manger’s bail in the amount of UAH 1 million 152 thousand will be recovered to the state revenue. These funds will be transferred to a special account of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
- in solidarity with Manger and Levin, the state will recover the costs of involved experts in the amount of UAH 153,296;
- the civil suit against Manger and Levin, the victims in this case, Viktor Handziuk, Nadezhda Handziuk and Sergei Denisov, was also satisfied. In favor of each of the victims from Manger and Levin, 5 million hryvnias (a total of 15 million hryvnias) were recovered jointly and severally;
- the court forbade the alienation of the property of Manger and Levin.
Manger and Levin now have 30 days to appeal the court’s decision to the Kiev Court of Appeal.
According to the decision (of the court – ed.), Manger and Levin remain in custody. It is the decision that will enter into force only after it is considered on appeal. It is impossible to predict the timing (of the consideration of the appeal – ed.), but usually it is faster than in the first instance, – notes the lawyer of the victims, Olga Verelnik.
Lawyers for Munger and Levin have already said they plan to appeal.
