“Wagnerites” understood that aviation could pose a serious threat to them, explained Yuri Ignat.
Mercenaries of PMC Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin destroyed seven Russian aviation units on the territory of the Russian Federation during the march to Moscow. This is what the spokesperson of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, said on the air of the telethon on Sunday, June 25.
According to him, one plane, two combat helicopters and four Mi-8 transport helicopters were destroyed.
“Mi-8 transport helicopters are powerful equipment helping the Russian army in the war against Ukraine,” Ignat said.
According to him, the “Wagnerites” understood that aviation could pose a serious threat to them.
“Prigozhin was afraid of the response of the Russian aviation. And to be honest, the aviation really needs to be afraid. Because it can break the whole group in a few minutes. However, as we see, everything ended a little bit. Only I would like to emphasize that if the appropriate command was given, then the Russian pilots could have easily destroyed the Wagner columns moving towards Moscow,” said Ignat.
Earlier, Russian media reported that Yevgeny Prigozhin pleaded guilty to his mercenaries for killing the pilots and agreed to pay 50 million rubles to the victims’ families. According to him, “the stupid pvoshnik in the range shot everyone who flew.”
According to various sources, from 13 to more than 20 pilots of the Russian Federation died yesterday.
