The first high-precision GLSDB missiles may not arrive in Ukraine until autumn. The delays are related to the development and production of weapons, which is why the delivery of these missiles is postponed.

The GLSDB is a small 130 kg GBU-39 guided bomb with an M26 rocket engine installed. When the engine is disconnected, its wings decompose in the air, which significantly increases the range of destruction.
Pentagon Representative Laura Cooper in the US Congress spoke during a meeting about the timing of the transfer of GLSDB to Ukraine, announced back in February.
According to her, the delays are related to the development and production of these weapons, which is why the deadlines for the transfer of these missiles are postponed.
In addition, the issue of transferring ATACMS operational tactical missile systems, which, according to Pentagon representatives, are in limited quantities, was discussed. As an alternative to ATACMS, the issue of increasing the announced high-precision GLSDB was considered.
With the mass production of GLSDB, Ukraine will be able to get more of these bombs than OTRK ATACMS, which are produced by Lockheed Martin in artificial quantities.
High-precision missiles were created in cooperation between Boeing and SAAB. The ammunition has been in development since 2019. For targeting, the weapon uses GPS and an inertial navigation system. Thanks to the rocket engine, the missile has a range of approximately 150 km and carries 16 kg of explosive.
Earlier, Militarny wrote that Boeing’s new precision-guided GLSDB missiles would not appear in Ukraine any time soon: an industry official told Bloomberg that it would take about nine months for the first deliveries to take place after the US awards the contract.
