Border guards detained a foreigner wanted by Interpol

An Azerbaijani citizen tried to leave Ukraine through the Orlovka ferry checkpoint.

The border guards of the Izmail detachment detained a citizen of Azerbaijan in the Odessa region, who is on the international wanted list. This was reported on June 22 by the State Border Guard Service.

It was noted that on the eve of the foreigner tried to leave Ukraine through the ferry checkpoint Orlovka.

“In the course of border control, the Interpol database worked on the passenger of the Neoplan bus with a request for arrest. It turned out that the 52-year-old man is wanted by the law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan for illegal drug trafficking,” the department said.

The detainee was handed over to representatives of the Izmail department of the National Police.

It will be recalled that at the end of April, a 44-year-old Turkish citizen was detained in Ukraine, wanted by Interpol since 2022 for serious crimes related to drug smuggling.
