It was noted that Rolling Plains recorded massive power outages, including more than 700 customers without power in the Jayton area. The most significant damage was in Matadora – a city of about 570 people 112 kilometers northeast of Lubbock in Motley County.
The storms also brought tennis-ball-sized hail and winds in excess of 161 mph to other communities, including Jayton, according to the Lubbock National Weather Service.
