The Associated Press received a picture from a Ukrainian drone dated May 28, 2023.
An AP interlocutor among Ukrainian special forces confirmed that the car could have been set up like this for two purposes: to stop the advance of the Ukrainian military on the dam or to intensify the explosion in the engine room and destroy the upper part of the dam.
The security forces, however, argue that one car bomb would not be enough to destroy the dam.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba called the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station the greatest man-made disaster of the last decade. It caused enormous environmental and humanitarian damage to the Ukrainian South.
Another problem that the Russians have created is economic. Agricultural producers and farmers fell under a new blow of fate. Due to the undermining of the dam, the irrigation systems of the fields were destroyed. In addition, farmers and agricultural firms will have to rebuild their logistics, because the river routes have been destroyed.
