Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke on the phone with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian leader on Monday, June 19.
“The parties adjusted their positions on the eve of the Vilnius NATO summit. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted the importance of providing Ukraine with concrete prospects for membership in the Alliance. The measures to implement the Ukrainian peace formula and prepare security guarantees for our state was also discussed,” the message said.
Zelensky told Sunak about the course of the battle. They discussed the defense needs of Ukraine, further cooperation to expand the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine through long-range weapons.
In addition, the president spoke about Russia ramping up the production of missiles using Western parts and mentioned the need to increase the pressure of sanctions.
Zelensky also thanked Sunak for organizing a conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which will be held in London on June 21-22, and for Britain’s leading role in consolidating international support for our state.
Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky is demanding a clear algorithm for Ukraine’s entry into NATO. He said this when addressing the participants of the Bucharest Nine summit.
Zelensky also called the condition for his participation in the NATO summit in Vilnius.
It was previously reported that NATO members wanted to offer Ukraine an updated format of relations to show support for its application for membership, but there was no talk of concrete steps to with Ukraine joining the alliance in the near future.
Remember, according to the head of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, Ukraine’s accession to NATO will not take place while the war is going on, but the path to future membership is open.
