The Russians are planning a sabotage of Ukrzaliznytsia facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region with the participation of a recruited agent.
The Security Service of Ukraine detained an enemy agent who, in order to interrupt the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, wanted to blow up the railway in the frontline areas of the Dnipropetrovsk region. The SBU press service reported this on Monday, June 19.
The traitor became an employee of the local station Ukrzaliznytsia. Earlier this year, the man was recruited by a Russian military intelligence officer.
The Russian agent collected information about railway transport routes and places for unloading foreign military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine involved in counter-offensive operations of Ukrainian troops. In addition, he recorded the coordinates of railway stations and bridges, where the heavy weapons and ammunition of the Defense Forces are being repositioned.
To fulfill the tasks of the aggressor, the GRU agent of the Russian Federation filmed things in detail with a mobile phone camera during work trips by train.
Intelligence information is needed by the invaders to conduct air strikes in the region. Also, the Russian invaders considered a “sabotage option” at the facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia with the participation of a recruited agent. Thus, the Russians planned to disrupt the supply of fuel, arms and ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the southeast.
SBU officers immediately apprehended the Russian agent, documented his criminal actions and detained him. During a search of the residence of the person involved, F-1 and RGD-5 grenades, a carbine, a large number of cartridges for small arms and smoke bombs were found.
The detainee was informed of the suspicion. He is currently in custody. The traitor faces life in prison.
It will be recalled that earlier in the Sumy region, an enemy agent recruited by the FSB was detained. The security service also detained a Russian “mole” in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who wanted to “unify” the direction of the Ukrainian counteroffensive with the Russians.
