Putin continues to argue that Ukraine, not Russia, started the war, and reiterates that Ukraine, not Russia, has withdrawn from “peace talks.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with an African delegation, assured the guests that his logic in the war against Ukraine was “infallible” from the point of view of international law and the UN Charter . This was reported by Russian news agencies.
Putin continues to argue that Ukraine started the war, not Russia.
“The Kiev regime unleashed this war in 2014. According to Article 51 of the UN Charter, we have the right to provide them with assistance (“LDNR” – ed.), which refers to the self-defense clause. Dear colleagues, this logic, in my opinion, is the opinion of my colleagues and experts is infallible from the point of view of international law and the UN Charter,” said the Russian dictator.
Putin also reiterated that Ukraine, not Russia, rejects “peace talks” and showed African leaders the initial draft treaty with Ukraine, which is being prepared in March 2022 in Istanbul.
Putin did not abandon the topic of the deportation of Ukrainian children, but argued that Russia allegedly took the children from Ukraine completely legally and was never against their reunification with their families.
Remember that Putin in St. Petersburg Economic Forum assured that he can “destroy any building in the center of Kyiv without nuclear weapons,” but he does not do it “for several reasons.”
It was previously reported that the forum in St. Petersburg on the day of Putin’s speech shut down the Internet to prevent possible drone attacks.
