Writes about it Associated Press.
One of the reasons for the creation of the center is the attack on the Nord Sream gas pipeline last year. This case is still being investigated. However, after the sabotage, NATO ships increased their presence in the Baltic and North Seas.
Another reason is that the Russians are mapping critical infrastructure in the Baltic Sea.
There is heightened concern that Russia could target submarine cables and other critical infrastructure in an attempt to disrupt Western life, Lieutenant General Hans-Werner Wiermann told reporters.
Earlier, journalists from public broadcasters in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland published an investigation in which they reported that Russia was preparing sabotage at infrastructure facilities in the North Sea in case of a conflict with the West.
In particular, Russian ships collect information about offshore wind farms, gas pipelines, power and internet cables in the waters around the Scandinavian countries.
Also, journalists from these countries found that Russian ships were at least three times near the explosion sites on the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
