The maintenance of these American-made aircraft will cost the Ukrainian budget dearly, because it will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Such fighters will cost less, but will have a shorter service life. Brynn Tannehill, a former pilot and simulator developer for the F-16, said this in a Bloomberg commentary.
US Department of Defense specialists noted that a flight on the old F-16s, which Ukraine is likely to receive, will cost $32,000. at one o’clock. The head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, stressed that the maintenance of the older version of the aircraft will cost the same as buying them.
Tannehill noted that Russian MiG-31 and Su-35 fighters have an advantage over the aircraft that are now in service with the Ukrainian Air Force. The Russian vehicles are also equipped with more advanced radars than the outdated F-16 version. However, with good weapons, like the Lockheed Martin air-to-ground missile, these fighters will be a good help to Ukraine in the war with Russia.
Recall, on June 15, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that Ukraine at today’s Ramstein received a “clear signal” that the exercises of the Ukrainian military on F-16 fighters would begin. Next, Kyiv will work with other countries to create a “coalition of fighters” led by Denmark and the Netherlands.
