This was announced today, June 14, by the press center of the SBU.
The attacker turned out to be a resident of Energodar, who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine even before the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia. There he did military service in one of the garrisons in the Dnepropetrovsk region, the secret service notes.
It was established that at the end of last year, the attacker remotely recruited a career employee of the Russian military intelligence, at the direction of which the person involved was collecting information about plans for the participation of Ukrainian troops in military operations at the front.
According to the investigation:
- the person involved at the beginning of reconnaissance and subversive activities maintained communication with the aggressor because of his mother, who remained in the temporarily occupied Energodar and fell into the field of view of the game;
- subsequently, the traitor was brought into direct “connection” with Russian military intelligence. Telegram messenger was used for communication.
On the eve of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he received an “urgent” task from his “curator” – to find out the start date and the main directions of the Ukrainian counterattacks.
In addition, the traitor:
- must transfer to the occupiers the routes for the transportation of foreign weapons and military equipment of the Defense Forces to the line of clashes;
- tried to establish radio communication channels in the combat units of the Ukrainian troops.
The Russian agent was exposed in time and detained while performing a hostile mission. He was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code (high treason committed under martial law).
The perpetrator faces a life sentence while in custody. An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime.
