The United States has extended sanctions against Belarus for another year, as the previous restrictions were due to expire on June 16. This was stated in a statement from the White House.
“The actions and policies of some members of the Belarusian government and others, as well as the harmful activities and long-term abuses of the Belarusian regime, continue to pose a serious threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States, ” US President Joe Biden said in a statement.
In addition, the United States extended sanctions against the Belarusian airline Belavia for another 180 days. The sanctions were imposed on June 16, 2022 for the use of American-made Boeing aircraft in violation of restrictions imposed after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
It was previously reported that the UK has expanded sanctions against Belarus.
