Ukraine returned 95 prisoners of war, including fighters from Mariupol, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Snake Island, Bakhmut, as well as the defenders of Azovstal.
Ukraine on Sunday, June 11, returned home 93 privates and sergeants and two officers as part of a prisoner exchange with the enemy. This was announced by the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak on Telegram.
“Exchange prisoners. We are going home with 95 of our people. The list includes soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard, as well as border guards. Among them are 93 privates and sergeants and two officer. In particular, prisoners from Mariupol, Chernobyl, Snake Island, from – Bakhmut, as well as the defenders of Azovstal. We also managed to return the participants of the special operation, who flew by helicopter to be surrounded the Mariupol, in Azovstal,” he wrote.
Yermak noted that many of the freed defenders of Ukraine were wounded in captivity.
The coordinating headquarters reported that they were able to return the defenders captured by the Wagner PMC and the Chechen division Akhmat.
At the same time, the headquarters added that among the released Ukrainians, three have the status of “search for identification.”
Recall that on May 25, Ukraine returned 106 Bakhmut defenders from captivity. Earlier in May, Ukraine returned 45 defenders of Azovstal.
