Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered all private military companies fighting in Ukraine to sign contracts with the army by July 1. This was stated on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
This requirement applies to all private military companies, including PMC Wagner.
It was noted that such a decision would give the volunteer detachments the necessary legal status and would ensure the same means of organizing their maintenance and carrying out front line tasks. It will also “help increase the combat capabilities and effectiveness of the RF Armed Forces.”
The order makes it possible for all so-called volunteers to conclude a contract with either the volunteer detachments or the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, thereby becoming contract soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces.
The founder of PMC Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, said that his structure will not sign any contracts from the Russian Defense Ministry.
When asked to whom PMC Wagner and Prigozhin report personally, he replied that it is the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
Recall that earlier PMC Wagner mercenaries entered the battle with the Russian army, as it passed the path of withdrawal from Bakhmut. “Wagnerites” also detained a lieutenant colonel of the RF Ministry of Defense, who was in charge of mining.
