“TOS-2 systems were used in the direction of Kharkiv,” said the interlocutor of the agency and added that during the so-called “special operation” the Russians were “running on” many military innovations.
The TOS-2 Tosochka is a further development of the TOS-1A Solntsepek heavy flamethrower system with enhanced performance characteristics. It is made based on Ural vehicles with higher carrying capacity and cross-country capability. It has a higher launch range of unguided rockets. The TOS-2’s aiming, shooting and fire control are fully automated. A crane-manipulator is mounted on the machine, so the system does not require a transport-loading machine. The TOS-2 is equipped with an electronic protection system against high-precision weapons.
The Russian military first used TOS-2 in the main phase of the Caucasus-2020 strategic exercises at the Kapustin Yar training ground in the Astrakhan region.
The other day, Advisor to the Head of the President’s Office Mykhailo Podolyak posted on Twitter a video of the use of the TOS-1A Solntsepek system in Ukraine. It is Russia’s heaviest non-nuclear weapon that burns people’s lives. In response, Podolyak called on Western countries to move multiple rocket launch systems to Ukraine.
Earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny said that Ukrainian defenders are in dire need of long-range weapons.
