The President of the Association Ukrvodokanalekologiya Dmitry Novitsky said that international partners have already provided Ukrainian water utilities with more than $170 million in aid, allowing them to maintain their work in combat conditions. He spoke about this in a briefing on June 7.
“Today we received more requests from water utilities for $310 million, which we have already transferred to foreign organizations. They are being studied. We are discussing priority measures that will help support the businesses,” Novitsky said.
According to him, foreign partners are ready to continue helping water utilities, but for this the Ukrainian side must do its “homework” and ensure the current operation of these enterprises, which require identification of sustainable sources of funding.
As you know, as a result of a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, more than 800 kilometers of water supply and 244 kilometers of sewage networks were destroyed, as well as about 70 pumping stations and 23 facilities in treatment is destroyed / damaged.
Recall that the director of the water utility spoke about the situation with the Kherson water pipeline.
It was also reported that the Cabinet of Ministers, in connection with the explosion of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, decided to build new main water pipelines to provide drinking water to the residents of Krivoy Rog, Nikopol and Marganet.
