Kuleba believed that a counteroffensive against Russian forces would give the country the victory it needed to join the North Atlantic Alliance.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the success of Ukraine as a result of the counteroffensive will allow our country to become part of NATO in the future. He said this in an interview with Reuters.
“We’ve unlocked all the weapons,” Kuleba said.
According to the minister, NATO membership is Ukraine’s next goal.
The Foreign Minister added that joining the Alliance “probably” will not happen until Russia loses the war.
“NATO membership cannot stop this war, but NATO membership will stop further wars. That is why the best way to ensure security in the region comes to a point where Ukraine becomes NATO member,” said Kuleba.
Recall that the Ministry of Defense announced the first results of the offensive. Thus, the troops of the Operational-Strategic Group of Forces of Khortytsya conduct offensive operations on the eastern front.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine has no plans to involve any NATO member country in the war unleashed by Russia. Therefore, there was no full membership in the Alliance while the war continued.
