Ukraine demands to suspend the exceptions provided by SP-1 in the law for the gas pipeline.
The GTS operator of Ukraine and Naftogaz has sent an appeal to the German Ministry of Economy and to the regulator for permission to work for Russian Nord Stream-1. On Friday, May 27, OGTSU chief Sergei Makogon spoke on television.

Ukrainian companies are asking to cancel the exemptions granted to the gas pipeline by law.
Makogon recalled that these exceptions were based on the fact that the gas pipeline would help strengthen the security of gas supplies in Europe, the principles of market competition and the energy cohesion of the continent.
“But we see that Russia is completely violating such principles. We know that they created an artificial gas shortage last year, that they unilaterally insist on payment for gas in rubles, that Russia is unilaterally suspended gas supplies to Poland, Bulgaria and Finland, ”he said. .
The head of OGTSU also noted that the Russian Federation has taken part of the territories of Ukraine with gas transportation infrastructure facilities.
“Therefore, we see that the grounds on which these exceptions for SP1 are provided no longer correspond to reality. We suggest that the German government review these exceptions and actually suspend or significantly limit those gas supply to Europe through SP1, ”Makogon said.
He assured that if such a decision is made, European consumers will not suffer, as there is sufficient free capacity for the transfer of Russian gas to the EU through the Ukrainian GTS.
Recall that after the start of the Russian invasion, OGTSU called on the EU to limit the operation of Sverd Stream-1.
