U.S. officials believe pro-Ukrainian agents in Russia attacked the Kremlin in early May by launching drones from Russia, not Ukraine, according to CNN, citing sources familiar with U.S. intelligence.
According to US officials, Ukraine has developed subversive groups inside Russia, consisting of pro-Ukrainian people well trained to wage this kind of war. Kyiv provided them with Ukrainian-made drones. Two officials told CNN there is no evidence that any of the strikes were carried out by American drones.
The publication notes that the Ukrainian side has created well-established smuggling routes that can be used to send drones or their components to the Russian Federation, where they are assembled.
