The special representative of the Vatican, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, who came to Ukraine on behalf of Pope Francis, is on a visit to Ukraine. He met with Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets. Lubinets reported this on Facebook.
Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbakas, Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine, joined the meeting.
The parties met at the Center for the Protection of the Rights of the Child, which was opened at the initiative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Ombudsman presented a special report to the delegation from the Vatican not blooming on the violation of the rights of Ukrainian children in TOT and in Russia, information materials on human rights violations in Ukraine as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
“Russia is massively removing Ukrainian children from the temporarily occupied territories. We do not know the exact number or where they are. However, we manage to return the children home, and each such story is like a separate special operation,” Lubinets said.
He also drew the attention of the representatives of the delegation to the issue of the return of civilian hostages held by the Russian Federation. We are talking about tens of thousands of citizens of Ukraine, where there are priests of the Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic churches.
At the end of the meeting, the Ombudsman handed over a commemorative coin for Pope Francis Born in Ukraineissued by the National Bank on the occasion of Children’s Rights Day.
It was previously reported that the Pope’s representative will visit Kyiv.
As you know, the Pope said that the Vatican is participating in a peacekeeping mission to try to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Francis appointed Matteo Zuppi to lead a special mission to address the war in Ukraine.
It will be recalled that on May 13, the Pope met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who visited Italy and the Vatican.
