The Ukrainian military continues the defense that began on February 24, 2022, the day the full-scale Russian invasion began.

    .

This was announced today, June 5, in her Telegram channel by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar.

A defensive operation contains everything, including counteroffensive actions. Therefore, in some areas we are moving to offensive actions, she stressed.

According to Malyar, the Bakhmut direction remains the epicenter of hostilities.

There we are moving on a fairly broad front. There is success. We occupy the dominant heights. The enemy on the defensive wants to hold positions,” she said.

In the south, the enemy is on the defensive. Fights of local significance continue, – added Malyar.

The Deputy Minister also commented on the situation with the information actively disseminated by the Russians now about the alleged course of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.

Why are the Russians actively launching information about the counteroffensive? Because they need to divert attention from the defeat in the Bakhmut direction, – Malyar notes.
