The petition for the introduction of separate carriages for women and men in Ukrainian Railways trains has obtained the required 25,000 signatures. The corresponding initiative was registered on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers on May 15.
As of June 3, 25,074 people out of the 25,000 required signed the document. Now that should be answered.
The authors of the petition explain their proposal by the need to create safe and comfortable psychological conditions for transportation.
“On long routes, when having to sleep in the compartment or second-class carriages, passengers may experience discomfort due to passengers of the opposite sex. There are frequent cases of unacceptable behavior, such as of obsessive behavior, deliberately touching other passengers. . In particular, there are cases of rape in compartment coaches,” the petition said.
It was also noted that people often change clothes on trains, which is a problem to do in the presence of members of the opposite sex.
Recall that after the registration of the petition, Ukrzaliznytsia decided to create separate women’s compartments and test this change for several months. Women’s compartments are planned to be introduced on long-haul routes.
