As part of the European Political Community summit in Chisinau, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz. This was announced on Thursday, June 1, by the Office of the President.
Zelensky informed Scholz of the escalation of Russian missile terrorism against Ukraine.
In this context, the need to continue support to the defense of Ukraine was noted, first of all, strengthening the capabilities of the Ukrainian air defense.
The President expressed gratitude to the German Chancellor for supporting the Ukrainian formula for peace and willingness to participate in its implementation. The parties discussed joint preparations for the Global Peace Summit and the participation of the widest possible range of participants in it.
It was noted that the leaders agreed that an important factor in the pressure on the Russian Federation is the tightening of sanctions against the aggressor, including the inclusion of the most effective sanctions against the Russian economy in the new EU sanctions package .
Recall that today Zelensky also held a meeting with the prime ministers of six countries, the participants of which agreed to start training Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 in the near future.
