The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen proposed a variant of security guarantees for Ukraine before joining NATO. Members of the North Atlantic Alliance can provide Kyiv with a number of security guarantees, which consist in providing the country with the necessary weapons, even before joining NATO.

This proposal was made by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, writes The Guardian.
Ahead of the NATO summit in Vilnius in July, the debate among member countries is intensifying over what form of security guarantees should be given to Ukraine until it becomes a full member. The President of the European Commission pointed out that historical examples can be used for the future security status of Ukraine. Perhaps she was referring to the neutral position that Finland took after the Second World War until its accession to the EU.
Ursula von der Leyen added that “Ukraine’s friends will be there for the long term.”
In addition, the President of the European Commission indicated that the Allies should provide Ukraine with long-range weapons in order to equalize the gap in range on the battlefield.
According to her, the Russian dictator is trying to destroy the world that built the world after the end of World War II.
Russia started this unprovoked and unjustified war. For no reason, she invaded Ukraine to wipe it off the face of the earth. And Russia refuses to recognize Ukraine as an independent state. But the will of Ukraine to fight and freedom has amazed the world,” concluded the President of the European Commission.
Ursula von der Leyen is convinced that military assistance is necessary for Kyiv today.
