Turkey’s CEC declared Erdogan’s victory

The head of Turkey’s CEC on Sunday evening, May 28, announced the victory of current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Erdogan in the second round of the presidential election, Turkish media reported. President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the Turkish leader on his re-election in the election.

So the head of Turkey’s CEC said that, according to preliminary data, Erdogan won the second round of the presidential election.

52.1% of voters voted for him. 47.9% of voters voted for his rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the High Electoral Commission reported, based on the results of counting nearly 100% of the ballots.

Erdogan will now hold the post for the next five years.

Thousands of Erdogan fans are waiting for him near the residence in Ankara. His appeal is expected after the official election victory.

World leaders are beginning to congratulate Erdogan on his victory. Erdogan and President Zelensky were congratulated.

“I welcome Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of his victory in the presidential elections. We look forward to further strengthening the strategic partnership for the benefit of our countries, as well as strengthening cooperation for the security and stability of Europe,” Zelensky wrote to Twitter.

Before that, Erdogan declared himself the winner of the election before the official announcement and sang a victory song.

Earlier, the media reported that Erdogan was leading the presidential elections.
