This is reported by the publication “Public”.
It is noted that prosecutor Anton Voytenko, insisting on choosing a measure of restraint in the form of detention, substantiated his position, in particular, with the following facts:
- according to him, the suspect at the scene of the accident had slurred speech, and witnesses and investigators heard the smell of alcohol;
- the speed of Tandoor’s car was faster than allowed, as evidenced by the mechanical damage to the car;
- drew attention to the behavior of the suspect after the accident and to the fact that it took 18 hours to take blood samples due to the initial refusal of Tandoor.
At the same time, Tandyr’s lawyers, Oleg Yurchenko and Irina Bovnega, continued to insist that he was not under the influence of alcohol and did not speed. In particular:
- according to Yurchenko, after the accident there was an initial report in which there was allegedly no information about alcohol intoxication;
- Yurchenko also stated that biological samples were allegedly taken from his client illegally;
- Bovnega said that Tandyr had never been prosecuted before, and the crime in question “was unintentional,” and therefore, according to her, a preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest with a bracelet would allegedly ensure the proper behavior of the client.
Denis Shevchenko, a lawyer for the family of the deceased 22-year-old National Guardsman Vadim Bondarenko, Denis Shevchenko, said that at present the family does not accept any apology and hopes for a fair court decision and the strictest punishment for Judge Tandyr.
I hope that society will not let this case be forgotten, our lawyers will not let the case be put on hold,” Shevchenko stressed.
