Boat Bucha will be part of the river flotilla, which was created last year in the Kyiv region.
The Ukrainian army received at its disposal a small armored artillery boat Bucha. The Navy reported this on Friday, May 26.
The official ceremony of handing over the boat to the military was attended by Deputy Defense Minister Vladimir Gavrilov, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Valery Zaluzhny, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant General Sergei Shaptala and Navy personnel.
The Commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Alexei Neyezhpapa, said that the boat will be part of the river flotilla, which was created last year in the Kyiv region.
“This boat is from a series of boats being built for the Navy since 2016. The boat Bucha was laid even before the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, but its construction and state tests were completed during the active conflict in the Kyiv region. Now, at the behest of the Minister of Defense, he was accepted into the Navy. The flag of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was raised on the boat. From that moment, this boat was a full-fledged member of the naval family here, in the Kiev Sea. And he will defend Ukraine from the direction of the river,” said Neizhpapa.
The vice admiral also added that the river fleet is a necessity of the present and now there are two divisions of armored boats on the Dnieper.
On the boat Bucha modern navigation and radar equipment and weapons are deployed to destroy enemy targets. One of the features of this boat is low visual optical-electronic, radar and thermal visibility. It is equipped with a system of protection against the targeting of enemy weapons and a system for the automatic placement of smoke and thermal screens.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense announced the creation of a naval coalition. Western partners are helping Ukraine rebuild its navy.
It will be remembered that in October 2022, a new Ukrainian corvette was launched in Turkey. Hetman Ivan Mazepa.
