The head of the Armenian government noted “relatively good” progress in repairing relations with Azerbaijan.
Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed on mutual recognition of the territorial integrity of the republics. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this on Thursday, May 25.
“I want to confirm that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to mutual recognition of each other’s territorial integrity, and based on this, we can say that we are well on our way to resolving our relations,” he said at the extended meeting of Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (EAEU) in Moscow.
Pashinyan also looked into the issue of ensuring the rights and security of Nagorno-Karabakh residents “within the framework of the international mechanism.”
“I hope that a normal constructive dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert (the capital of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic – ed.) will soon begin,” he said.
According to the prime minister, Armenia is ready to unblock all transport and economic corridors.
In this regard, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that there are requirements for the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku, and that his country has no territorial claims against Armenia.
Earlier on Monday, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Yerevan was ready to recognize Azerbaijan’s territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh. But there is a condition for this. And the President of Azerbaijan called a peace agreement with Armenia “inevitable”.
