The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to advance on the flanks and actually come close to capturing the city in a tactical situation.
The commander of the Ground Forces, Alexander Syrsky, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are actually getting closer to taking Bakhmut in a tactical siege. It was reported on May 21 by the Military Media Center.
“Despite the fact that we now control a small part of Bakhmut, the importance of its defense does not lose its relevance. It gives us the opportunity to enter the city in case the situation changes. And this is certainly will happen,” Syrsky said.
According to him, Ukrainian forces continue to advance to the edges in the suburbs of Bakhmut and are actually approaching the capture of the city in a tactical situation.
“Thanks to this, we can control all the tall buildings occupied by the enemy and gradually destroy them. This removes the enemy’s control over the intrigues in the city and gives us some tactical advantages. In the course of cooperation to the commanders, we analyzed in detail our actions and the method for destroying the enemy. Therefore, we continued the defense. The situation is difficult, but under control,” said the commander.
Earlier, Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said the Russian army had failed to cordon off Bakhmut. Eastern Group of Forces spokesman Serhiy Cherevaty added that the Ukrainian military was holding positions around the city.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also stressed that Bakhmut is currently not part of the Russian Federation.
