Israel adjusted its policy towards Moscow and gradually adopted a more pro-Ukrainian stance, but still did not provide modern weapons to Ukraine.
Israel has rejected a U.S. request to allow Berlin to provide Ukraine with anti-tank missiles made in Germany using Israeli technologies and licenses. This was announced on Wednesday, May 25, by Axios, citing American and Israeli officials.
We’re talking about Spike missiles. They are made in Germany in an Israeli-owned factory. In this regard, for the transfer of the company’s products to a third party, an extraordinary portion of the Israeli authorities is required.
A corresponding request was sent two weeks ago to the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Amir Eshel, by the US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs, Colin Col.
According to the publication, Eshel denied the request. He noted that the country will only provide non -lethal weapons to Kyiv.
Israel, like the US, has strict regulations for end users of its weapons. These rules limit the consumer’s ability to transfer weapons abroad without Israeli consent.
The multi-purpose anti-tank missile system (ATGM) Spike-ER is designed to destroy modern armored vehicles, incl. equipped with dynamic protection, fortifications, enemy manpower, low wind speeds and surface targets at any time of day, in bad weather conditions at a distance of up to 8 km.
Spike-ER is used in arming combat helicopters, surface ships, placed on self-propelled chassis of various types, as well as in a portable version.
