The first direct flight from Moscow to Tbilisi in four years landed at the Georgian Shota Rustaveli airport. This was reported on May 19 by the Novosti-Georgia portal.
It was noted that dozens of policemen were on duty at the airport, which did not allow participants in the action under the slogan The Russian ship will not take us to the European Union.
Law enforcement officials demanded that protesters clear the road near the airport, many people were detained.
Most of the passengers on the flight refused to speak to reporters.
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili posted on Twitter using the hashtag No – flights from Russia.
“Despite the opposition of the Georgian people, Russia made an unwanted flight to Tbilisi,” wrote the head of state, who opposes the continuation of air traffic with the Russian Federation, in contrast to the Georgian government.

According to Radio Echo of the Caucasus, the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency issued a permit for flights to another Russian air carrier, Red Wings.
The airline will operate several charter flights on the route Sochi – Tbilisi – Sochi from June 2, as well as on the route Moscow – Kutaisi – Moscow.
Earlier, the Russian airline received permission to resume flights Azimuth and Georgian Georgian Airways.
