After the failure of the “drones in Moscow,” the Russian side came to “revenge” in the form of eliminating the American air defense system.
The Russian Federation did not achieve the desired results by conducting an information-psychological operation with “drones over the Kremlin”, so they came up with a new fake about the alleged destruction of the system of Patriot in Ukraine. Andrey Chernyak, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, announced this in a commentary to RBC-Ukraine, published on May 19.
According to him, the drone over the Kremlin and its alleged Ukrainian origin is an exclusive information and psychological operation of the Russian authorities, designed for its own population.
“They are trying to show the need for war and protection allegedly from Ukraine and the whole Western world. They lost this information operation – they failed to achieve the results they expected. However, because it has already happened, and in order not to suffer even greater loss of reputation, the Russians must strike. At the same time, they must destroy something large-scale,” said Chernyak.
That is why the Russian Federation is trying to convince that it was able to “retaliate” and “destroy” the Patriot system.
“If we talk in general about the goals of their latest shelling in Ukraine, then they are trying to see our air defense, pull the systems away from the front line, investigate and destroy our military installations. We believe that it will continue as long as they have enough resources,” he explained. GUR representative.
To recall, on May 16, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that a “high-precision strike” by a Kinzhal missile “destroyed” a Patriot air defense system in Kyiv. And later – about the alleged defeat of five system launchers.
The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that it was impossible to destroy the American system with a Kinzhal missile, and ensured that the anti-aircraft missile system was operational.
