The United Nations states that the prospect, previously unimaginable, “has emerged within the limits of the possible.”
The UN does not rule out the possibility of a greater escalation of armed conflict in Ukraine. In particular, the possibility of Russia’s use of nuclear weapons is being considered. This is stated in the report of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The prospect of a nuclear conflict, previously unimaginable, is once again within possibility.
Moreover, the UN noted the consequences of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine: destroyed homes, schools and hospitals, lack of basic necessities and 12 million people displaced. We are also talking about the sharp increase in the cost of food, fuel and fertilizer around the world due to violations of supply chains.
“All of this has hit the hardest of the poor, exacerbating suffering and planting the seeds for more political instability and unrest around the world, with a direct impact on the protection of civilians,” the UN added.
It will be recalled that the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights recorded 3974 deaths and 4654 injuries of the civilian population of Ukraine after a massive Russian aggression.
