Power engineers urged Ukrainians to reduce electricity use in the evening hours – from 19:00 to 22:00.
Power engineers are forced to use all reserves to provide electricity to all consumers. It is reported Ukrainergo on Wednesday, May 17th.
“Electricity generation is sufficient to cover consumption. However, during night hours, all possible reserves are used in the energy system to provide electricity to consumers,” the report said.
Power engineers attribute the situation to the scheduled maintenance of nuclear generation, which, after intensive work during the heating season, requires refueling.
Also, a number of power units of thermal power plants, which were subjected to massive missile and drone strikes by the Russians during the six months of the autumn-winter period, were taken out for repair. This significantly reduced the available capacity and reserves in the power system, especially during the night hours.
In addition, Russia continues to terrorize the borders and front-line areas with constant shelling. Tonight in the Donetsk region, the Russians destroyed the power line at night, feeding one of the mines. The miners were fired. Oblenergo brigades continued the electricity supply.
In this regard, the Ministry of Energy reported that yesterday, as a result of the fighting, one of the power lines in the Dnepropetrovsk region was disconnected. There were technological violations, which led to disconnections of more than 6 thousand subscribers.
In addition, power outages were also recorded in the Odessa region due to technological violations. Now all consumers are empowered.
And in the Sumy region, one of the poles of the power transmission line was damaged by a tractor – restoration work continues.
In general, a part of consumers in the regions of Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv remains without electricity due to the initial shelling.
Currently, Ukraine does not import electricity. And its export continues to Poland and Moldova only at night and during the day, when the power system has excess capacity and consumption is reduced.
