It was noted that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the F-16 issues with the Prime Ministers of Belgium and the Netherlands Alexander De Croo and Mark Rutte.
“In The Hague earlier this month, the F-16 issue was also discussed in a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Prime Minister. We said that we cannot provide the aircraft, but we can train the pilots,” the Belgian Prime Minister’s office said. .
The information was also confirmed by the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak on Telegram.
“We need fighters, and we thank the allies for the decision to work in this direction. In particular, Belgium has also confirmed its readiness to train pilots,” he wrote.
Earlier, Yermak said that British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte agreed to work on creating an international coalition of fighter jets for Ukraine.
Ukraine hopes to receive around 40-50 F-16 fighters from Western partners and form three to four squadrons to protect the skies.
