Aeroflot has issued an internal directive, according to which senior flight attendants must enter data on technical failures and malfunctions of cabin equipment in the cabin log book (Cabin Log Book) only after agreement with the aircraft commander.

The Proekt publication writes about this in an article about the state of Russian aviation under sanctions. The publication has a copy of the order, its authenticity was confirmed by several sources in Aeroflot.
As one of the senior flight attendants of Aeroflot explained to the Project, if before the start of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine and the sanctions that followed it, all defects were entered in the flight log, now they only need to be reported orally.
The main purpose of such an order is to prevent aircraft from remaining on the ground due to a malfunction, which, according to documents, prohibits the vessel from flying until it is fixed, a former Aeroflot employee said on condition of anonymity. “Earlier, before the war, this rule was strictly observed: every trifle was written and everything was repaired.
The same practice, according to the source of the “Project” in the technical services, is common in other airlines.
Speech, notes the edition, we can talk about malfunctions that threaten safety. In particular, the Project writes that in 2022, an Aeroflot aircraft made a flight from the UAE to Moscow without a full set of oxygen cylinders on board – the ship’s commander decided not to make an entry in the logbook in order to avoid a delay in departure.
Sanctions imposed after the start of the war prohibit, in particular, the supply of American and European-made aircraft, as well as spare parts for them, to Russia.
Russian airlines are trying to fight the shortage of spare parts by purchasing them from third countries or by dismantling their aircraft. From March to August 2022, Russian companies purchased spare parts and components from European and American manufacturers from abroad for a total amount of about 44 million rubles.
In 2021, Aeroflot alone spent about 10 times more for these purposes. At the same time, as Proekt notes, most often we are talking about buying used spare parts removed from other aircraft, and not about acquiring new ones.
Russian airlines are dismantling for parts and aircraft from their fleets. Based on Flightradar data, the project calculated that at least 11.4% of the fleet of the largest Russian companies did not fly for more than three months. This does not mean that all these aircraft have been sent for spare parts, but some of them can be dismantled, which, writes Proekt, indicates, for example, that among the aircraft that did not fly, there are those that have already been dismantled. it was known.
