Thus, he has not appeared in public space for the fifth day in a row amid rumors about his illness. This is reported by the oppositional Belarusian publication Zerkalo.
It is noted that for Lukashenka the visit to this event was important – he himself came up with this holiday, making appropriate changes to the legislation in April 2023.
Today the holiday is celebrated for the first time – before that there was the Day of the State Emblem and the State Flag.
As its press service reported, “the new name is intended to salute all three state symbols of the country.” This further emphasizes the importance for this event for Lukashenka personally.
Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko spoke at the ceremony today and read out an appeal from Lukashenka.
It is noted that currently the whereabouts of Lukashenka is unknown. It is only known that on the evening of May 13, his cortege, accompanied by the Strela special police unit, arrived at the territory of the Republican Clinical Medical Center of the Presidential Administration.
Earlier, Belarusian opposition media reported that on May 9, Lukashenka urgently returned to Minsk from Moscow, where he was a guest of the Victory Day parade. According to some reports, he was accompanied to the airport by an ambulance.
At the same time, a bandage was noticed on Lukashenka’s hand in a photograph, according to experts, it could have been a bandage after applying the catheter.
