Electricity shortage during an active repair campaign at the end of May in June and July is expected to be covered by imports. Dmitry Sakharuk, Executive Director of DTEK, announced this on the air of the national telethon, the Economic Truth newspaper reports.
I believe that due to the fact that it is possible to cover the conditional deficit with imports, we will not reach rolling blackouts in the summer period,” Sakharuk noted. “In turn, next winter could be a problem next winter as we enter it with significantly less power or durability.
According to him, Russian shelling led to the following consequences:
- 75% of thermal generation damaged;
- to restore the energy system, it is necessary to restore 12 thousand km of power lines and about 4 thousand distribution substations;
- repair work should be carried out at all power units of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, since they actively worked in the winter.
Currently, four units are already under repair, another one is being repaired to replace the fuel and in order to ensure the normal stable operation of the system in the next heating season.
DTEK plans to repair 28 power units by next winter.
