The Ukrainian leader explained to the Italian media why the Russians attacked the Kremlin themselves on May 3.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia itself attacked the Kremlin to justify its actions in Ukraine to the public. The head of state said this in an interview with Italian media on Saturday, May 13.
Zelensky emphasized that the Kremlin did not attack the Ukrainian drone, because Kyiv understood what was happening.
“We did not launch any drones in the Kremlin.. I will tell you honestly, if we had something to do with it, we would say. Why should we be afraid? He (Russian President Vladimir Putin – ed.) bombs us every day. But our position is that we do not shoot at civilians and the Russian Federation,” the Ukrainian leader insisted.
According to the President, Putin has less justification for his actions, even for Russian society.
“There are fewer and fewer motivational measures for the radical part of society. He had to hit us and he did, and more than one. This is a very important point,” Zelensky said.
He added that Putin always needs a “foundation”, so he or his entourage will come up with some things.
It will be recalled that on May 3, Russia announced an “attack by Ukrainian drones” on the Kremlin, regarding it as a “planned terrorist act and an attempt on Putin’s life” on the eve of May 9.
Zelensky assured that Kyiv did not make any “attack” on the Kremlin or its head Putin and uses weapons to protect its territory.
The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believes that Russia may have carried out a drone attack on the Kremlin in an attempt to create conditions for wider public mobilization.
