Such data is allegedly in the document of the EU diplomatic service, according to the publication Euractiv.
The publication notes that according to the “semi-official estimate” presented in the document, the losses of the armed forces of Ukraine amount to 13 thousand killed and 35 thousand wounded.
The document also notes that, according to US estimates, Kyiv has lost 17.5 thousand people. In total, from 124,000 to 131,000 Ukrainian military became disabled, died or disappeared during hostilities.
Ukrainian officials estimate Russian losses at 185,000 killed and 555,000 wounded, the document says.
According to Western diplomats and military officials, casualty estimates are often cited by Western intelligence and media reports. But it is almost impossible to get official confirmation of these figures from both sides of the conflict.
So the former head of the EU military committee, General Claudio Graziano, told Euractiv that Russia’s total losses “probably will become known only after the end of the war.”
In any case, it will be one of the bloodiest wars on the territory of Europe,” the general said.
The day before, in an interview with the Air Force, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian military leadership had decided not to announce the figures for the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the war with Russia.
