The purpose of an inspection of a nuclear facility is to control the absence of undeclared nuclear material.
Specialists of the International Atomic Energy Agency conducted an inspection of the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant. This was announced on May 11 by the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation.
It was noted that the control measures were held on May 8-9 within the framework of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
The purpose of the inspection is to verify the absence of undeclared nuclear materials. It was held within the framework of the Agreement between Ukraine and the IAEA on the application of safeguards under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
As mentioned in the SNRCU, the check was successful and there were no comments from the inspectors.
It was previously reported that Energoatom plans to reload the NPP’s power units with fresh nuclear fuel and carry out scheduled repairs.
