The decision to extend the suspension of import duties, anti-dumping duties and protective measures on Ukrainian exports to the EU was supported by 537 deputies, 42 voted against, 38 abstained. This was announced today, May 9, on the website of the European Parliament.
The tariff suspension applies to:
- fruits and vegetables covered by the entry price system;
- agricultural products and products of their processing subject to tariff quotas.
It is noted that industrial goods are subject to zero duties from January 1, 2023 in accordance with the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, so they are not included in the new proposal.
These measures are critical to strengthening Ukraine’s resilience as we work towards Ukraine’s gradual integration into the EU internal market. Our solidarity with Ukraine is consistent, transparent and unwavering, and it has been further strengthened by the status of an EU candidate. The future of Ukraine is in the European Union, – said the speaker Sandra Kalniete (EPP, Latvia).
