The closest approach to Earth is expected on Friday, May 12. The asteroid will fly by at a distance of about 6.08 million km.
Asteroid 2023 HT4, whose length exceeds 70 meters, will fly close to Earth. This was announced by the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
According to NASA, the length of the celestial object is about 76 meters. The closest approach to Earth is expected on Friday, May 12.
The distance from it to Earth will be about 6.08 million km. It is noted that the speed of the asteroid is 32184 km per hour.
It should be noted that if an asteroid approaches the Earth at a distance closer than 7.4 million km, and its size is more than 150 m, then NASA considers it a “potentially dangerous object.” However, 2023 HT4 does not meet both criteria at the same time, so it is not considered “potentially dangerous”.
Earlier it was reported that an asteroid with a length of about 143 meters will fly close to Earth.
