The DBR confiscated a unique Hunian sword with gold trim, a gold Byzantine icon of the 11th-12th centuries, jewelry, helmets, and icons. Armor of the 16th-19th centuries, coins of periods from antiquity to the late Middle Ages were also found.
Investigators suggest that the finds could have been stolen from the Crimean museums and bought from “black archaeologists.” Currently, they have been transferred for storage to the National Museum of the History of Ukraine.
Gorbatov fled Kyiv to the occupied territories on the eve of full-scale Russian aggression.
He has connections with the “chairman” of the Crimea Aksyonov, financed the “DPR”. In the summer of 2022, thousands of stolen artifacts were also found from him. This happened as part of the investigation of the proceedings on aiding terrorists.
We are talking about about 6,000 artifacts that the former people’s deputy misappropriated for himself. Then, during the searches, Scythian swords Akinak, spears, axes, arrows, coins, chain mail of the 12th century, helmets of the Hellenistic era and dishes of the Trypillian culture were found.
