Today, the number of “peacekeepers” in the security zone does not exceed 450. At the same time, the personnel established by the documents of the Joint Control Commission is 3,100 people.
Unrecognized Transnistria has asked Russia to increase the number of so-called “peackeepers” because of an alleged worsening security risk. This is what the so-called head of the Transnistrian mission in Moscow, Leonid Manakov, said in an interview for RIA Novosti, published on Monday, May 8.
According to him, currently the number of “peacekeepers” in the security zone is no more than 450. At the same time, the staff established by the documents of the Joint Control Commission is 3,100 people.
Manakov said that Pridnestrovie has repeatedly asked for an increase in the number of Russian “peacekeepers”, including by recruiting military personnel from Russians permanently residing in Pridnestrovie.
“Therefore, there is a choice, and it is justified from the point of view of the worsening security risks, in particular, the terrorist threat, and at the same time, it is legally justified by the documents adopted as part of the activities of the JCC,” he said.
It will be remembered that on March 9, Pridnestrovie announced the prevention of a “terrorist attack”, which was allegedly prepared at the direction of the SBU, and information spread in the Russian Mass Media that the target of the attack was “president” which is Vadim Krasnoselsky.
Later, the Center for Strategic Communications explained the fake about the “act of terrorism” in Transnistria.
