According to the E1 edition, as of May 7, 55 fires with a total area of 35,000 hectares were recorded in the region. So far, the authorities have managed to localize 14 fires on an area of 1,490 hectares.
On the evening of May 6, in the village of Pervomaisky, a forest fire spread to gunpowder warehouses belonging to the Gefest-M weapons company. As a result, two warehouses on an area of 960 sq. m. The fire threatened another 18 houses where explosives are stored.
Due to the threat of fire from many settlements began the evacuation of residents. In total, more than a thousand people were taken out, mainly from the villages of Pervomayskoye and Krasnoarmeyskoye.
The city of Asbest, near which four large fires were recorded on an area of 7.2 thousand hectares, was left without water supply and electricity due to accidents at the local water utility and power plant.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, as a result of fires, the amount of harmful substances in the air is significantly exceeded. Many settlements were shrouded in smoke from fires. Sanitary doctors advised local residents not to open the windows of the house and go outside without masks and respirators.
The governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Evgeny Kuyvashev, called the situation with wildfires in the region critical and asked for federal assistance to fight them. In addition to employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Russian Guard, 4,000 volunteers and volunteers, including from other regions, left to fight the fires.
