Germany is launching a hryvnia-to-euro exchange program for Ukrainian refugees in the country. This was announced by the German Ministry of Finance on Monday, May 23rd.

It is indicated that from May 24, Ukrainians will be able to exchange the national currency for the euro at no additional charge. They will be able to deposit up to UAH 10,000 per person in German banks that have joined the joint program of Germany and the National Bank of Ukraine.
“The exchange will be registered on the online application to ensure that the individual maximum exchange rate is not exceeded. The identity of each adult refugee who wishes to participate in the exchange will be registered and verified. Data protection is guaranteed. It is still possible to exchange within three months, “the message said.
Ukrainians in Germany can exchange banknotes in denominations of 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 hryvnias. In total, the Bundesbank is ready to exchange UAH 1.5 billion.
Earlier it was reported that refugees in EU countries plan to allow to change the hryvnia at the rate of the National Bank. The exchange of hryvnias for local currency in European countries is one of the important problems of Ukrainian refugees in Europe.
