Countries in the Adriatic-Ionian region have adopted a declaration in which they called Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “illegal and unreasonable”. This was reported by Euractiv.
It was noted that Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and San Marino have come together as part of the EU Strategy for the Formation of the Adriatic-Ionian Region (EUSAIR). They listed 25 points in a joint declaration on their future cooperation under the auspices of the European Commission, the first relating to the war in Ukraine.
“We, government representatives, are saddened by the strongest terms on Russia’s illegal and unreasonable aggression against Ukraine. We reaffirm our commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within the internationally recognized which are its boundaries, ”the declaration said.
The document is not a legally binding document and only expresses the joint political position of the signatory parties.
